The Synchronicity of Seashells

Nice, France

On Friday, I slept in then was online all day and in the evening we had les coquilles Saint-Jacques for dinner. It’s synchronicity because I (along with my fellow program mates) had just had a private tour of Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Jacques in Toulouse last weekend- the coquille (scallop shell/seashell) is the sign/symbol associated with Saint Jacques (Saint James) and is very much present all throughout the grounds of Hôtel-Dieu .

During dinner, I  made a comment about how one could wear the scallop shells like Ariel from The Little Mermaid, and Lu promptly picked hers up from her plate, held them up to her chest, and V finding it super hilarious, burst out laughing but she was a bit hoarse from a cold so she asked me not to make her laugh (too hard). I really liked the dish and I love to say that it was delicious.
